Viking is committed to helping local initiatives who support the local community
When Viking Self Storage opened its doors in Norwich in early 2018, the team was determined to be involved in supporting the local community and becoming involved in things happening in the city.
Following discussions with a number of local charities at the time, Viking finally chose the Norwich Food Bank to be its chosen charity and donated a free 75sqft unit for them to use free of charge for a year.
A year on, and the Food Bank is busier than ever. Over the course of the year it has given out 10,000 emergency 3-day food parcels, a 2% increase on the previous year, and equivalent to 180,000 meals. This increase in need is played out across the country with frequent news stories about the increasing reliance on emergency supplies such as this.
In the run up to Christmas when the food bank is busiest, both in terms of donations and need, they took on an additional 100sqft unit at Viking Self Storage to help them deal with their increasing needs.
Following Viking’s initial offer of a year’s free storage, they agreed to renew the agreement for another year from the spring of 2019.
